Doug LaPlante

A memorial service for Doug LaPlante, 58, Dickinson, is 2 p.m. today at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. today at Ladbury Funeral Service. Following the service, there will be a time of fellowship at the Badlands Activity Center from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Dickinson State University Alumni Foundation and the Dickinson High School and Blue Hawk Booster Clubs.

Doug was a warm and exceptionally caring person. He was always very gracious and ready to help anyone. We shared an office area for over 2.5 years and he never uttered an unkind word or turned away a visitor no matter how busy he was. He always greeted our daughter with a smile and genial conversation whenever they would meet after she returned to Dickinson to enroll at DSU. I am certainly pleased to have known Doug. He will leave a large void at DSU and with us. Terry and Susan Hupp

My husband and I will miss Doug's ready smile and wave of the hand each time we saw him. He was a bright spot on campus.
