Cody Michael Wilson, 20, Dickinson, suddenly passed away Saturday, July 14, in Clearlake, Calif.
Cody’s memorial service is Sunday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Dickinson.
Cody was born Dec. 15, 1991, in Petaluma, Calif., to Michael and April Wilson four days after his grandfather, Lewis Wilson, passed away.
Throughout Cody’s early years, he was raised by his devoted father, Michael, and grandmother, Caroline Wilson of Santa Rosa, Calif. At age 9, Michael and Cody met Debbi Cunningham of Santa Rosa, Calif., and they lovingly became a forever family. They moved to Hidden Valley Lake, Calif., where Cody became involved in baseball, basketball and soccer all of which were his passions.
Cody was 13 years old when his baby sister, Jami Lynn, was born and he was immediately smitten with her. They adored one another and Cody couldn’t wait to come home from school to hold her.
The family moved to Dickinson when Cody was entering his freshman year at Dickinson High School. Cody was nervous not knowing anyone but upon meeting Luis and Jacob in the lunch room on the first day, all bets were off. The three became fast and furious friends. They were always on the go, leaving no stone unturned.
Cody was diagnosed with Marfan’s Syndrome at age 16, something he struggled with because he had to give up playing sports. This was Cody’s true passion. He aspired to get his sports management degree and becoming a professional sports scout.
He turned his passion from playing sports to refereeing. Cody loved life and lived each day to the fullest. He was never still for a moment and was always looking for the next big adventure. He was never without a smile on his face.
Cody is survived by his parents, Michael and Debbi Wilson; sister, Jami Lynn of Dickinson; his birth mother, April Holland, Clearlake, Calif.; his grandmothers, Caroline Wilson, Santa Rosa, and Marge Cunningham of Dickinson; uncle and aunt, Howard and Melissa Gordon, Dickinson, and Don and Priscilla Larrabure of Rohnert Park, Calif.; and numerous additional aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in California.
Cody was laid to rest at Santa Rosa Memorial Park on Sunday, July 22.
