Dorothy C. Herberholz

Visitation for Dorothy C. Herberholz, 74, of Dickinson, will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. A private family service will take place at a later time.

Dorothy passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson.

Dorothy Johnson was born on Jan. 27, 1938 in New England, the daughter of Peter O. and Agnes (Sabart) Johnson.

She grew up on the family farm near New England. Dorothy attended school in New England, graduating in 1955. On Jan. 3, 1956, Dorothy married Mike Herberholz. To this union, Peggy, Michael, Carla and Roxanne were born. The family made their home in the Dickinson area.

Dorothy stayed busy raising their children and took on many of the chores which accompanied their herd of horses.

Dorothy worked at First National Bank of Dickinson for 23 years. She enjoyed greeting customers and being a person others could always count on. She later worked for Excel Cleaners and White Drug.

Dorothy enjoyed sewing, especially designing and creating Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren. She loved making Christmas a memorable holiday for her children and grandchildren, with her special baking, decorating and gift making. Dorothy was very devoted to her family and worked tirelessly to make sure they never went without.

Dorothy served as the state secretary for the North Dakota High School Rodeo Association. She was also the No. 1 supporter and fan of her children as they competed in rodeos.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Peggy Herberholz of Henderson, Nev.; Carla (LeRoy) Fettig of Dickinson; Roxanne (Vince) Ficek of Dickinson; daughter-in-law, Laura Herberholz of Stephensville, Mont.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Fritz (Sally) Fresonke of Billings, Mont.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Peter O. and Agnes Johnson; son, Michael Todd Herberholz; brother, Herman (Lila) Johnson; sisters, Fern (Fritz) Fresonke and Doris Tomlinson.
