Ruth Natalie Britton, 97, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 19, in Morro Bay, Calif.

Ruth Natalie Britton, 97, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 19, in Morro Bay, Calif.

She was born on the Bluff Dale Ranch, near Almont in 1915. She was second of six daughters born to Jonathan and Emelie Sorum Pederson.

Ruth married Lowell William Britton in 1938. They raised five children in Dickinson while operating Britton Jewelers.

Ruth and Lowell relocated to San Luis Obispo, Calif., in 1965, purchasing Clarence Brown Jewelers in 1966, later renamed Britton Jewelers.

Photography, good books, gardening and lovingly prepared meals enriched their lives, and music filled their home while entertaining many a welcomed guest.

Ruth was pre-deceased by her husband, Lowell; sisters, Lillian Peterson, Dagmar Stoeckel and son-in-law, Clay Lynn McGonagill.

Surviving her are children Jon (Susan), Joel (Betsey), Gene (Marcia), Jane, Julie Wireman (Dallas); grandson, Mack William McGonagill; sisters Eleanor Hillemann, Mildred Christopher and June Hove; brother-in-law Roman Peterson; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

A memorial service is Sunday, Nov. 11, 3 p.m. at the Chapel of the Roses, Atascadero, Calif.
