Frank Doppler was born March 12, 1927, in Akeley, Minn., to Joseph and Josephine (Keiffer) Doppler. He was raised on the family farm and took over the work on the farm at the age of 16, following the death of his father.

Frank married Mary Eve Hamilton on April 28, 1950. Upon his insistence that kids were cheaper by the dozen, together they had 12 children. He and Mary resided on the family farm for many years until it was time to move on.

Frank was considered a jack-of-all-trades, and worked hard his whole life. After moving from the family farm and leaving the logging business, he went to work as a mechanic, truck driver, and his favorite pastime upon retiring was woodworking.

After exploring a few stops around the country, Frank and Mary chose North Dakota their final stop in 1977.

He will be missed and remembered by his family and friends, especially his best friend, Ted Kostelecky.

Frank is survived by his children, Kathleen (Mike) Strese, Jim (Lynn) Doppler, Thomas Doppler, Junice (Ron) Neu, Mary Margaret Doppler-Tuttle, Kenneth Doppler, Bonnie (Ken) Steece, Mark (Valerie) Doppler, Lori (Rod) Lange, and Pamela (Sherman) Biffert; son-in-law, Nathan Thomas; 45 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary, on July 28, 2008; his parents; infant son, Douglas; daughter, Julie Thomas; grandson, Jesse Strese; two great-grandchildren, Diondre and Zhane Doppler; brother, Joseph; and two sisters, Mary Jones and Helene Doppler.

Arrangements are with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.
