Irene Marion McCallum, age 68, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at her home in Glendive, Mont., surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m.. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor James Hageman officiating.
Interment will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, in the Belfield Lutheran Cemetery in Belfield.
Irene was born on June 15, 1944, in Breckenridge, Minn., a daughter of John Paul and Margaret Elizabeth (Theede) Dengel. She was raised in Breckenridge and New England, and educated in Dickinson, where she graduated from Central High School with the class of 1965. Later in life she attended Dickinson State University in Dickinson where she received a bachelor’s of science degree in 1992.
Irene was united in marriage to Rolland Cyrus McCallum on Dec. 19, 1967 in Dickinson.
Irene has worked numerous jobs in many different positions during her life. She worked as a waitress, a cashier, an auditor and as a Realtor.
More recently she was employed by BOSS Office Supplies as a maintenance tech and she also worked as a bookkeeper for Robin’s Service.
Irene enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading and family gatherings. She especially loved traveling. She has been all across the country and she enjoyed every trip she had ever taken. In the evenings you could find Irene sitting on her porch socializing and watching the neighborhood or inside watching movies or Monday Night Football.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include her children, Ron (Julie) McCallum of Dickinson, JoAnn (Troy) Knutson-Kuehn of Glendive, Robert McCallum of Glendive, Lyle (Gina) McCallum of Salado, Texas, Ilene (Darwin) Stedman of Glendive, Steve (Ginny) McCallum of Bismarck, Dennis (Verna) McCallum of Bismarck, Kathy (Gary) Speten of Wilton, and Rodney (Kristen) McCallum of Raleigh, N.C.; one brother, Nick (Carlene) Dengel of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; three sisters, Paulette Nitz of St. Paul, Marie Jordan of Dickinson and Clara Rebel of Forman; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
