A rosary service is at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, before the funeral Mass.

Sandra passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Marion Manor Health Care Center in Glen Ullin.

Sandra Geck was born Feb. 24, 1943, in Evanston, Ill., the daughter of Wayne Thomas and Marie (Muller) Mattson.

After Wayne was killed in World War II, Marie married Eddie Geck. The family moved to Glen Ullin, where they owned and operated the Super Value store. Sandra attended school in Glen Ullin and graduated from Mt. Marty High School in Yankton, S.D.

Sandy returned to Glen Ullin and it was during this time she met Kenneth Wandler. On June 20, 1962, Sandra and Kenneth were united in marriage. To this union, Valorie, Daniel, Kathleen, and Eileen were born. The couple lived throughout western North Dakota for several years before moving out west where they eventually settled in Kent, Wash.

Sandy taught English classes to immigrating citizens, was a CNA and was home health nurse. She enjoyed visiting with friends and made friends where ever she went.

She loved to travel and was very grateful for her trip to Israel. Sandy was very fond of taking nature walks, pottery in college and collecting heart shaped rocks which led to her being referred to lovingly as “Rock Grandma.”

Sandra is survived by her children, Kathleen Wandler of Covington, Wash., Eileen (Allen) Pippen of Kent, Valorie Wandler of Hebron, and Daniel Wandler of Richland, Wash.; two grandchildren, Marcus and Logan; brothers, Tom Geck of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Tim Geck of Thorton, Colo.; sisters, Pat Soyk and Mary Geck of Dickinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Marie Geck; and her husband, Kenneth Wandler.
