Lillian peacefully passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, surrounded by her family at Los Robles Hospital, Thousand Oaks, Calif., and shortly after passed through the gates of heaven to be reunited with her beloved husband, Joe.

Lillian was born Oct. 26, 1923, in New Hradec, to Jim and Ann Ficek.

On Jan. 5, 1948, Lillian married Joe Hatzenbiler at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson, and spent 32 very happy years with him before his passing on June 12, 1980.

Beginning in 1988, Lillian spent the winters with her sons in California and Arizona.

Lillian loved cooking and baking for her family and friends and her family in Arizona and California fondly remember all the German and Bohemian dishes she made for them during her winter visits.

She also enjoyed crocheting and made numerous quilts for family and friends and passed the art to her granddaughter, Kelly.

Lillian was an avid Twins, Vikings and Lakers fan and enjoyed watching games with her family. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and if you played Pinochle you wanted her as a partner. Also, if you needed a waltz or polka partner she was your gal.

Lillian always took care of everyone’s needs before her own and she was loved by all her friends and family and will forever be in our hearts! The family would like to extend their gratitude to all of Lillian’s family, neighbors, friends and care givers in Dickinson that assisted and took special care of her in her later years.

Lillian is survived by: her children, Erv Hatzenbiler (Linda), Chandler, Ariz., Wayne Hatzenbiler (Lenore) Bakersfield, Calif., and Doug Hatzenbiler, Moorpark, Calif., three grandchildren, Tanya (Collin) Kelly, Ryan (Lillie) Hatzenbiler and Kelly Hatzenbiler, two great-grandchildren, Ronin and Hunter Kelly, three sisters; Agnes Ehli, Dumas Texas, Eleanor Richard, Dickinson, and Dorothy Dorval, Belfield, three brothers, Bob Ficek, Little Falls, Minn., Laudie Ficek and Eddie Ficek both of Dickinson, three sister-in-laws, Margie and Judy Ficek also from Dickinson and Dorothy Ficek, Little Falls, and several nieces and nephews.
