LeRoy Senn

A funeral Mass for LeRoy Senn, 76, Dickinson, is 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 8, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, with Rev. Kregg Hochhalter celebrating. Burial will follow in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.

Visitation for LeRoy is noon to 8 p.m. today at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, with a rosary and vigil service at 7 p.m.

LeRoy passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson.

LeRoy Senn was born June 29, 1936, in Hettinger County near Mott, the son of Frank and Rose (Berger) Senn. He grew up and attended country school in Hettinger County.

LeRoy also attended The Assumption Abbey where he graduated from high school in 1953.

LeRoy enlisted into the U.S. Army on Feb. 8, 1956, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 31, 1958. He then returned to the family farm in Hettinger County.

LeRoy met and married the love of his life, Rose Binstock, on Sept. 12, 1960. To this union, three children, Rodney, Roxanne and Richard were born.

In 1963, he began working at the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked for the next 36 years. He served in all areas of the postal system. LeRoy retired in 1999 and has continued to make Dickinson his home. He also worked part-time for Fedex.

LeRoy’s family was very important to him and his six grandchildren were his pride and joy.

LeRoy was a life member of the Eagles, Elks, St. Anthony and K of C Club. He served as president of the Eagles Club and also served as treasurer for the Eagles for many years. He was a member of the Ritual team. LeRoy was a past member of the American Postal Workers Union.

LeRoy and Rose were members of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, where he served one term on the Parish Council and served as an usher for many years.

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Rose; sons, Rodney (Kathy) Senn of Rapid City, S.D. and Richard (Holly) Senn of Sartell, Minn.; daughter, Roxanne (Scott) Malmstrom of Battle Lake, Minn.; sister, Henrietta (Jim) Nistler of North Oaks, Minn.; brother, Wilfred (CeCe) Senn of Tomah, Wis.; six grandchildren, Ryan and Kaitlin Senn, Carmen and Weston Malmstrom, Macy and Ivy Senn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rose; brothers, Daniel, Frank, Norbert and Finian Senn; and sister, Rose Humphrey.

The family prefers memorials to St. Wenceslaus Building Project or Dickinson Catholic Schools.
