Arthur Lundberg was born Sept. 6, 1927, on the family farm in Dunn County, the son of Nels and Harriet (Case) Lundberg. He grew up on the farm and attended country school through the eighth grade.
In order to attend school in town, Art had to board at the school dormitory and graduated from Killdeer High School in 1949. He continued to work with his father on the farm near the Killdeer Mountains.
On Nov. 18, 1956, Art was united in marriage to Viola Steffen at Killdeer. To this union, four boys were born: Arlen, Albert, Loren and Larry. Together, they farmed, ranched and raised their boys.
Art loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed sharing stories with all. His pride was taking a 5 x 5 elk from his own ranch.
He enjoyed building blue bird houses and was honored by the Landowner Sportsman Association. Art loved to be outdoors with his cattle and animals. He especially loved his horse, Kit, who would do anything for Art, including rope or pack calves. Art also enjoyed trapping in the winter months.
He played piano, accordion, and clarinet. He also enjoyed playing for wedding dances and around the neighbors.
In his younger years, he played a surprise Santa Claus and gave out candy bars to the area children.
Art had a great sense of humor. He loved to laugh and spending time with his family especially at family gatherings.
Art was a member of the Stockman’s Association, Killdeer Masonic Lodge, St. John’s Lutheran Church and was a 4-H Leader for many years.
Art is survived his wife, Viola; sons, Arlen (Cindy) of Lincoln, and his four children, Albert of Jamestown, Loren of Killdeer, and Larry (Jodi) of Killdeer, and his children, Tulsa and Chance; brother, Calvin Lundberg of Dickinson; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Harriet Lundberg.
