Agnes M. Fichter was born Oct. 19, 1948, the youngest daughter of Christ and Margaret (Roll) Fichter. She grew up in the Taylor area, graduating from Taylor High School in 1967. Agnes went to Kalispell, Mont. where she met John Kersich. The couple was united in marriage on July 20, 1968. To this union, two children were born. Agnes spent the next several years being a homemaker. After her children were raised, Agnes attended Dickinson State University and graduated in 1998. Agnes started working with the disabled and elderly and worked for many years at St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson.

Agnes enjoyed cross-stitching, puzzles, reading and bird watching. Her biggest pleasure in life was sharing good times with family and friends.

Agnes is survived by her son, Terry Kersich from Taylor; daughter, Stephanie (Chris) Shafer of Moorhead, Minn.; grandchildren, Tyler Wagner and Kaitlyn Shafer, who she absolutely adored and got much pleasure from; two sisters, Elizabeth (George) Messmer, Deadwood, S.D., and Josie Heinert, Bismarck; three brothers, Alex (Beatrice) Fichter, Kalispell, Mont., Richard (Lou) Fichter, Dickinson, Paul Fichter of Wisconsin, and some very special nieces and friends; and sister-in-law, Francis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Christ and Margaret Fichter; infant sister, Mary Catherine Fichter; and brother, Joseph Fichter.

Agnes suggests memorials be made to Heartland Hospice, 30 West 7th Street, Dickinson, ND 58601.
