Gary J. Weiler, 58, Mandan, died Sunday, March 10, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.

Gary J. Weiler, 58, Mandan, died Sunday, March 10, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Mandan, with Rev. Ryan Wolfe officiating. Burial will be at the Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service Thursday.

Gary J. Weiler was born in Dickinson, on Jan. 11, 1955, to Louie Weiler and Barbara (Olheiser). He was raised and educated in Dickinson, graduating in 1973 from Dickinson High School.

He worked as a welder for Melroe & Welk Steel and later for Falkirk Mining as the maintenance planner for the past 30 years.

Gary married Kathie (Bentz) on Aug. 7, 1976, in Elgin. Together they raised three sons.

Gary was a member of the Elks Club and Redeemer Lutheran Church of Mandan.

Gary had many hobbies including fishing, camping, hunting, traveling and spending time with family and friends. His great pride was being with his family and granddaughters. He loved spending time with his loving wife, and best friend, Kathie.

Gary enjoyed family get-togethers, especially the holiday seasons, being his favorite. He loved to travel with special memories going to California, Mexico with the family and fishing and boating at Lake Tschida. He loved campouts and enjoyed cooking for the family.

His legacy of love, laughter, and charity is carried in the hearts and lives of all who worked and loved Gary.

Left with wonderful memories of him and an example of a life well lived, are his wife, Kathie (Bentz) Weiler, Mandan; sons, Randy, Bismarck, Jesse (Jessica), Dickinson, Brian, Mandan; Granddaughters, Emily and Addison; mother, Barbara, Dickinson; brothers, David (Angel), Dickinson, Duane (Nelda), Mandan, Marvin (Meri), Enderlin; sisters, Joann (Jerry) Faulhaber, Dickinson, Sharon (Robert) Privratsky, New Hradec, Marlene (Leon) Kuntz, Sheffield; brother-in-law, Floyd (Tricia) Bentz, Bismarck, Duane (Wanda B) Bentz, Bismarck; sister-in-law, Jane (Steven) Bay, Carson; mother-in-law, Evelyn Bentz, Carson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Louie Weiler; brother, Terry Weiler, infant son, Ryan Weiler; father-in-law, Erhardt Bentz.
