State's success in heritage we protect
Growing up a fifth generation North Dakotan in rural Benson County, I was blessed to inherit the state’s vast outdoors where agriculture and conservation worked collectively for the betterment of the state. I, like many of you, was raised on a landscape abundant in natural beauty with clean water, numerous wetlands, wildlife habitat and native prairies. The outdoor heritage I refer to has a humbling effect on us as a people and is highly valued in our state’s quality of life.

ND Dems hope for bipartisanship in latter half of Legislature to maximize prosperity
Recently, our friends and colleagues, House Majority Leader Al Carlson and Senate Majority Leader Rich Wardner, candidly compared the first half of the North Dakota legislative session to “watching sausage being made.” We reluctantly agree, but hope our counterparts in the majority will now set aside the partisan meat grinder and work with us to maximize our state’s prosperity during the session’s remaining days. Because as things stand, some of the actions taken by the GOP majority this session threaten to churn North Dakota’s prime opportunities into something more closely resembling mincemeat.
