The increased need for food isn’t going away anytime soon, regardless of how climate change impacts the ability of producers to grow crops, experts say. “Given that people will always have to eat on a fairly regular basis, there will always be a place for agriculture on a macro scale,” said Chip Poland, chair of the agriculture and technical studies at Dickinson State University. “What is produced, where it is produced, what it costs to produce and what is sold, where is it sold, what does it cost to purchase, are open to debate on a variety of levels.”
