BISMARCK - Senate lawmakers shot down an amendment to the University System budget bill that would have given $854,520 to the State Board of Higher Education to buyout Chancellor Hamid Shirvani’s contract.
FARGO — The hiring of Hamid Shirvani as North Dakota University System chancellor carried a hefty price tag — about $100,000 more than the previous chancellor’s pay — and buying out his contract wouldn’t be cheap either.
BISMARCK — A Fargo lawmaker is pushing a plan to buy out the contract of Chancellor Hamid Shirvani just seven months after he took the helm of the North Dakota University System, claiming Shirvani is widely seen as a “questionable” leader who has created “an environment of fear and retaliation.”
