BISMARCK (AP) — A demolition crew blasted Missouri River ice Wednesday to force a thick ice jam to move south. Officials likened the move to pulling a giant plug to drain flood waters away from southwest Bismarck.
“We are cautiously optimistic,” Bismarck Mayor John Warford said after the string of explosives went off in the river ice about 4 p.m.
Prescription drug abuse in Stark County and surrounding areas continued to increase last year. The South Sakakawea Narcotics Task Force seized 315 dosages of prescription drugs in 2008 with 17 busts in Stark and surrounding counties.
BISMARCK — A new law that forces owners of abandoned North Dakota oil wells – some more than 50 years old – to clean up their sites has worked so well that in less than a year, most wells it targeted are compliant or well on their way, a state official said.
