After several contract extensions, renovations to downtown Dickinson’s historic Elks Building were to be completed by Sept. 30, but that deadline was not met, leaving city officials with a decision to make.

Dickinson officials met Friday to discuss the city’s 2010 preliminary budget, with relatively few changes and no city property tax increase, a city official said.
One of Dickinson’s main electrical transmission lines suffered severe damage in a storm last week and workers are scrambling to have it fixed by Friday. There is potential, if another storm hits, that the city could lose power.
Jordan Kessel, 20, of Dickinson, pleaded guilty Wednesday to two criminal conspiracy charges — one for burglary and one for theft. Matthew Kubik, 21, of Dickinson pleaded guilty to identical charges Tuesday.
Dickinson homeowners who want to improve the aesthetic appeal of their houses may get help from the city this year.
Dickinson is taking requests to participate in the annual Sidewalk Improvement District program which helps provide residents an affordable alternative to fix up their walkways.
