Four adults lined both sides of the island in my kitchen on a recent Sunday afternoon. Picking and choosing from an array of brightly colored fresh vegetables to include in roll-ups, we looked like young children involved in a pre-school food project, tasting, laughing and chatting as we worked. Or played.
For the past few weeks Mother Nature has been teasing farmers with the promise of spring weather, but time and time again their hopes are dashed when they wake to another blanket of snow. As if that wasn’t enough, experts are predicting higher input costs this year.
Though funds for Hettinger County infrastructure damaged by a 2009 flood has been allocated, some Mott residents are waiting for help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to repair their damaged homes.
You know spring is here as the smell of skunks begins to fill the air.
With the smell comes story after story of those who got a little too close to the varmints and how they got rid of the ghastly odor.
