SIOUX FALLS — Thousands of people remain without electricity in eastern South Dakota as a spring storm pounding the state enters its third day.

Storm causes cancelation of Relay for Life

They had planned on participating in the Relay for Life of Stark County, but early in the event a series of severe thunderstorms that produced tornadoes, flash flooding, dangerous lightning and hail swept through western North Dakota, delaying and eventually canceling the event. Participants are returning today to help with clean up. As of press time, county emergency managers had not reported any severe weather-related damage.

Sunday storms startle southwest ND

Morton, Stark and Grant county residents braved a tornado scare Sunday night as a series of severe thunderstorms swept over the area. The storms produced tornadoes, funnel clouds, hail and excessive amounts of rain.
