MANNING — With the deadline approaching to turn in applications for Dunn County’s open sheriff position, the County Commission will check the law before determining what the salary for the position will be.
City, county and state officials, along with child care providers and other interested parties, met Wednesday in Dickinson at the Badlands Activities Center to brainstorm solutions to relieve the area’s overstretched child care network.
Stark County companies pay the big bucks for mining and oil and gas extraction. The county paid the highest wages in the third quarter of 2011, allowing employees to pocket more than $2,000 a week, according to a Job Service North Dakota report released Tuesday.
More law enforcement may be making its way to the area.
The Stark County Sheriff’s Department and Dickinson Police Department are applying for a federal grant which covers all wages and benefits for an officer’s first three years. In return, the agency must keep the positions for a fourth year and pay the wages and benefits for that year.
Bus driver wages, especially those that only transport students a few miles, was just one of the topics discussed during a Dickinson Public Schools Collaborative Bargaining Team meeting Wednesday at the Central Administration Offices.
