Letter: Why no language saying abortions not funded?
Congress is about to vote on a health care bill that will impact every American for decades to come. It's time to wake up and realize exactly what is being funded when it comes to healt hcare. This bill does include government funding of abortion and will result in the largest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade.
Polls have indicated that the majority of Americans do not want this health care bill to be passed, for many reasons including abortion. Our leaders in Congress insist that abortion is not funded in this legislation. If not, then why do they refuse to include language that would specifically say that abortion is not funded?
Abortion is not health care, as the abortion industry and President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid would like Americans to believe and it should not be mandated under any health care insurance plan, especially one that Americans will be forced to subsidize.
It is important to act now and let our North Dakota representatives in Washington know what we think about this most important bill, as it will be voted on very soon. Sens. Dorgan 202-224-2551 and Conrad 202-224-2043 and Congressman Pomeroy 202-225-2611 need to hear from every voter in our state who is concerned about this issue and then vote accordingly.
The government should use resources to create new jobs instead of paying for abortions under the guise health care.
