Bandshell to feature Lisa G and the Showdown
Lisa G and the Showdown will entertain the bandshell crowd with a roster of country music spiced up with rock. The band’s performance is next on the bandshell series, scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug.8.
The band performs monthly at the BrickHouse Grille B2 Lounge, but the bandshell is its first community-wide performance.
“All the people in the band are from other bands,” said Keith Traquair, who plays keyboard and sings with the band.
He was inspired to put the group together for Brickhouse, but credits Lisa Guenther as the band’s leader and lead singer.
“Lisa has been singing all her life,” Traquair said. “I want to emphasis her ability to sing and that this is her band.”
Performing at the bandshell will include Jeff Tibor, guitar; Joseph d’Amico on drums, and special for the show, Cy Hartman, who is who playing bass.
Traquair describes the performance as, “A lot of country, a lot of eclectic, and some straight rock -- we go the true gamit.”
The band is looking forward to their performance at the bandshell.
“It’s a beautiful park -- Parks and Rec has done so much to improve the bandshell,” he said. “Years ago it was falling apart and now it's a wonderful venue … plus there’s food.”
Traquair has been a musician all of his life, and played at Dallas for 20 years before moving to Dickinson. Here, he teaches band at Dickinson High School.
“I’m really looking forward to playing with this band,” he said. “We practice Saturdays -- Thursdays too -- to get ready for the show.”
The band’s next performance at Brickhouse is Friday, Aug. 11.
