DSU to celebrate International Education Week
The Office of International Programs at Dickinson State University will celebrate International Education Week from Monday through Friday, Nov. 13-17. Throughout the week, there will be presentations on different countries’ culture, music and dance.
“International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide,” said Perzen Akolawala, director of International Programs at Dickinson State. “The Office of International Programs is excited to host events all week to recognize international students and bring our campus and the Dickinson community together.”
The schedule of IEW events is as follows:
Monday, Nov. 13 -- “Zaminamina Waka Waka”
* 5-7 p.m. -- Student Center Ballroom: Celebrate the various African cultures represented on campus with music and dancing.
Tuesday, Nov. 14 -- “Rangeela Dandiya”
* 5-7 p.m. -- Student Center Ballroom: Discover a traditional stick dance rooted in Indian culture, practiced across the sub-continent to celebrate the festival of Navratri.
Thursday, Nov. 16 -- “Tres Vidas”
* 5-7 p.m. -- Beck Auditorium, Klinefelter Hall: Enjoy a chamber music theatre performance by Core Ensemble that portrays the lives of three legendary Latin American Women. An actress will represent multiple characters while interacting with the onstage musical trio of cello, piano and percussion.
Friday, Nov. 17 -- “Mayas”
* 5-7 p.m. --Student Center Ballroom: Explore the Mayan culture; learn interesting facts about tradition, history and religion.
