Food safety workshop set

The Dakota College Entrepreneurial Center for Horticulture at Bottineau will hold a farm and cottage food safety workshop in Dickinson on March 10. It is from 1-5 p.m. at the Southwestern District Health offices, 227 16th St. W.

The training will cover regulations and labeling for local foods, as well as basic safety such as hand washing, water testing, sanitizing tools and equipment, worker hygiene, monitoring pH, and writing a food safety plan.  The  training will also have value for local foods producers of baked and dry goods.  

The training is free and open to the public.

Holly Mawby, Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety lead trainer will present the training, along with a representative from the local health unit.  

This training is funded by a grant through the USDA National Institute for Food and Agriculture Food Safety Outreach Program.
