Ukrainian orchestra, chorus to perform; coming from Kiev, Ukraine
The Ukrainian Cultural Institute of Dickinson is sponsoring an inspirational concert by the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and Chorus from Kiev, Ukraine.
This world-renowned orchestra will be performing at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Trinity High
School Auditorium, 810 Empire Road. The concert will include sacred classics, Ukrainian folk music and stories of Ukraine.
The Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and Chorus is not only a world-class professional music group, but also a mission group through Music Mission Kiev. KSOC’s mission focuses on music and
evangelism, proclaiming the Gospel through music, love, and humanitarian support. Their work
includes physical and spiritual support for those affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine and for
widows and orphans.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to experience beautiful music from Europe,” said Cathy Logosz, a member of the UCI Board of Directors. “With the high population of citizens of Ukrainian descent in western North Dakota, I feel it is our duty to support the humanitarian efforts of these musicians, our distant relatives. At the same time, we are honoring our heritage and ancestors who fled religious persecution more than 100 years ago.”
The concert is free. However, monetary gifts will be accepted at the door with all proceeds going to KSOC in support of their mission. UCI is also accepting donations prior to the concert to assist with housing and meals while the musicians are in Dickinson.
Included in their 14th annual tour of the United States, KSOC also has scheduled performances in Bismarck, on Friday, Sept. 14th , and in Rapid City, S.D., on Sunday, Sept. 16. A
complete schedule of KSOC’s USA tour is available on their website:
