City of Dickinson hands out record amount of grants to senior centers

The Dickinson City Commission approved grant awards at its meeting April 16. The City of Dickinson set aside a portion of sales tax collections annually to fund this grant program, according to a press release.

Nineteen applications for grant awards were received, totaling $68,509. The same number of grants were awarded, totaling more than $44,000. It is the first year grant awards have exceeded $40,000.

Grant recipients are:

-- Amidon, Prairie Senior Citizens Club, $5,000;

-- Beach, Golden Valley County Senior Citizens, $1,000;

-- Belfield, Senior Citizens Activity Club, $6,000;

-- Bowman, Sod Buster's Club, $1,800;

-- Dickinson, Sunset Senior Center, $7,500;

-- Dodge, Dodge Senior Citizens, $500;

-- Dunn Center, Senior Strutters, $500;

-- Halliday, Halliday Senior Citizens Center, $500;

-- Hebron, Brick City Senior Citizens, $500;

-- Hettinger, Second Forty Club, $1,500;

-- Killdeer, Badlands Senior Citizens, $500;

-- Marmath, Little Missouri Senior Citizens, $300;

-- Mott, Cannonball Senior Citizens Center, $2,500;

-- New England, New England Senior Citizens, $2,000;

-- Reeder, Prairie Pioneers, $1,000;

-- Regent, Regent Senior Citizens, $2,500;

-- Rhame, Rhame Pioneer Senior Citizens, $500;

-- Scranton, Golden Miners Senior Citizens, $1,500;

-- South Heart, South Heart Senior Citizens, $5,000;
