Miss Dickinson Pageant set
Three titles will be awarded when the Miss Dickinson Scholarship Pageant gets under way at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Dickinson State University Stickney Auditorium.
Contestants ages 18 to 23 will vie for the titles of Miss Dickinson and Miss Roughrider Days. Contestants ages 12-17 will compete for the title of Miss Dickinson Outstanding Teen.
“You will see a great variety show,” Miss Dickinson director Annette Bohnsack said.
The Miss title winners will receive a $500 scholarship award and the opportunity to compete in the Miss North Dakota pageant next year in Williston. The pageant is affiliated with the Miss America organization.
The Miss Teen winner receives a $250 scholarship.
The Miss contestants will be judged on evening gown, interview, swimsuit and talent.
There still is time for interested contestants to participate in the pageant.
“A prom dress works or borrow a gown,” Bohnsack said. “Any kind of musical talent works great, or they can do a speech or dance.”
Special guests will be the newly crowned Miss North Dakota Jacky Arness of Fargo and Miss North Dakota Outstanding Teen Raghen Lucy.
Burn the Floor Diversity in Dance of Dickinson is assisting with choreography. Several soloist dancers also will perform.
Bohnsack said the Miss Dickinson Pageant is the gateway to win scholarships at the local, state and national level.
“The girls who win will have an entire year to prepare for the state and work on their talent,” she said.
Last year’s Miss Dickinson Delanie Wiedrich was unable to compete in the Miss North Dakota Pageant because she was chosen as a cast member of the Medora Musical. However, she expects to be on hand during the afternoon to meet with the contestants, Bohnsack said.
Prospective contestants may receive further information by calling Bohnsack at 701-527-0727.
