Rhame to celebrate centennial

RHAME - From June 27-29, the city of Rhame will be celebrating its 100th birthday.

The celebration, sponsored by the Rhame Community Club, will include a variety of events for members of the town and surrounding community.

To start off the weekend celebration, Friday evening will include a talent show at the legion hall starting at 7 p.m.

"They have singing, and there might be some students from Bowman to do some reading, both comedy and dramatic," said Pam Getz, of the Rhame Community Club. "They also have a group called the Aka fellas, which is an a cappella group, and they will be taking part in our show."

Following the talent show, a street dance will begin at 9 p.m.

Beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, the centennial parade will start.

"We're hoping for a real large parade," Getz said.

Activities continue with street games beginning after the parade.

"It's a really popular event," Getz said. "We have an egg toss and the balloon toss. Main Street is usually full from one end to the other."

Saturday afternoon's activities will include an art show in the park, a volleyball tournament, a rodeo, lawn mower races, and a motorcycle stunt show from the group FMX North.

Following the stunt show, an evening of entertainment will be provided featuring the talents of Kristi Goldade of Wishek who will be yodeling.

Saturday evening is wrapped up with a street dance at 9 p.m.

Sunday's activities entail a community church service, and a pancake breakfast.

"The community club appreciates all the help everyone has given us, and we hope for a fun weekend," Getz said.
