Airport has busy month

October was the busiest month ever for commercial airline traffic at the Dickinson Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport, according to a press release issued by the airport Tuesday.

Great Lakes Airlines boarded 1,186 passengers in October for a 21 percent increase over last October.

When the airport reaches 10,000 passenger boardings it will move into another level of Federal Aviation Administration funding and receive an additional $850,000 to be used for airfield improvement.

From January to October Great Lakes has boarded 8,215 passengers, an increase of 13 percent from January to October 2009, according to the press release.

In August, Great Lakes added an overnight aircraft to Dickinson. The flight led to a change in Great Lakes' schedule beginning Nov. 2, which removed the upline service with Sidney, Mont. This allows for Dickinson to have its own round trip and adds 75 seats to the Dickinson market.
