Body of missing EGF boy found
EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. -- Authorities confirm they have found the body of Anthony Kuznia, 11, missing from his rural East Grand Forks home since 2 p.m. Wednesday.
He was found in the Red River near Lincoln Park Golf Course in Grand Forks.
A massive search party that included volunteers and law enforcement agencies from around the region combed the fields and forest for him shortly after his grandmother reported him missing from his home in northwest Minnesota. The search went through the night and into the early morning and continued around 8 a.m.
More than 400 volunteers signed up today. They were joined by the mounted posse from Polk County, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter equipped with thermal imaging equipment and boats equipped with sonar, among others.
A prayer service for Kuznia was earlier scheduled for 7 tonight at his church, United Lutheran Church at Fourth Avenue South and South Chestnut Street in Grand Forks.
Kuznia had autism and was known to wander off and hide before. He liked to explore tents, recreational vehicles, cave-like spaces and the basement of homes. And he was drawn to water.
