Tioga man dies in crash

A Tioga man has died after the pickup he was driving was struck by another pickup 2 miles north of Tioga, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Billy Runnels, 48, was driving a 2013 Ford pickup north on Highway 40 at about 7 p.m. Monday when Tayler Kittleson, 21, of Fairview, Mont., crossed the center line in his 2003 GMC pickup and collided with Runnels’ pickup.

Both vehicles spun counterclockwise in the road with Kittleson’s vehicle coming to a rest in the middle of the highway and Runnels’ vehicle ending up in the east ditch.

Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt. Runnels died at the scene of the accident and Kittleson was airlifted to Trinity Health hospital in Minot.

The crash remains under investigation.
