Two Dickinson residents have died from gunshot wounds, Dickinson Police said Saturday.

Angelique M. Spenser, 35, and Steven E. Parker, 53, were found at approximately 10 p.m. Friday in a basement on the 700 block of 22nd Street West, according to a police report. Each suffered from a single, lethal gunshot wound.

The two were transported to CHI St. Joseph’s Health Center in Dickinson where they were pronounced dead. Police clarified both victims were shot once with a handgun recovered at the scene.

Spenser had recently moved to Dickinson from Nebraska. Spenser and Parker were believed to have been romantically involved, police said after interviewing the reporting party, who was familiar with both victims.

An official said over Dickinson Ambulance dispatch shortly after the 911 call was received that “this individual shot himself,” according to archive dispatch audio.

Later, she tells responders: “There is two individuals, I am hearing, that have both shot themselves in the head at this time. I guess I’m not 100 percent sure because my individual is very erratic.”

The official also said she did not believe there was an active shooter.

There were no signs of a forced entry into the home or of a struggle, according to the report. The Dickinson Police Department do not believe the public is in danger as the incident appears to have been isolated to the residence and couple in question.

Dickinson police Sgt. Mike Hanel wouldn’t comment on the dispatch audio, and said the department treats such deaths as homicides until they determine otherwise.

No further information is expected to be released as the investigation is ongoing and complex, police said. Further details will be provided when they are developed and confirmed.
