Businesses all across Dickinson will be hosting Halloween celebrations this weekend and not just doling out candy to trick-or-treaters.

There will be DJs, drink specials, festive decor and costume contests—some with cash prizes.

Dickinson Police Department Capt. Joe Cianni said that the police force will have their standard force out on the evening on Halloween as well as this weekend.

"Historically, Halloween hasn't been problematic for us in the past years, especially now when it's on a Monday night," he said. "The activity levels aren't to the levels that we would put additional staff on."

As of now he said there will only be roads blocked off for the Trick or Trunk event on Monday in downtown Dickinson from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

He warned both children and adults to be careful on the streets watching out for traffic and trick-or-treaters. He stressed the importance of driving sober this weekend noting that even buzzed driving can be dangerous, especially with children darting between houses collecting candy in the dark.

Cianni warned drivers to slow down and be aware of kids at intersections, particularly in residential areas.
