Two die in fiery crash with semi on Interstate 90 in western SD
MURDO, S.D. – A 64-year-old woman and her 59-year-old male passenger died Sunday morning in a fiery crash when a pickup collided with a semi that had crossed the median and into westbound lanes on Interstate 90 near Murdo in western South Dakota.
The names of the individuals involved are not being released pending notification of family members.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the 2013 Freightliner semi driven by a 53-year-old man was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 about 14 miles west of Murdo about 11:25 a.m. when it entered the median and then into the westbound lanes. The 2017 Dodge Ram was traveling westbound and struck the side of the Freightliner’s trailer.
Both the Freightliner and Dodge Ram entered the north ditch and caught fire. The driver and passenger of the Dodge Ram both pronounced dead at the scene.
