GRAND FORKS - A Burger King in north Grand Forks is closed for construction after an apparent structural failure.

The business at 3765 Gateway Drive is "closed during construction," according to signs posted at the restaurant. It appears several boards and tiles from a false ceiling have collapsed in the playground area, but it's unclear when or how the incident happened.

The Grand Forks Public Health Department is aware of the situation, said Javin Bedard, environmental health manager for the city. The closing of the restaurant was not due to a health inspection issue.

It's uncertain for how long the restaurant will be closed. Forum News Service is seeking comment from the corporate office's media relations department.

There are two other Burger King locations in Grand Forks: 3151 32nd Ave. S. and 1416 S. Washington St. East Grand Forks also has a restaurant at 926 Central Ave. N.W.
