Fargo man arrested after squad rammed
FARGO – A Fargo man faces a long list of charges after an incident Thursday morning in which a police car was rammed.
The incident started about 2:35 a.m. when officers were called to the 2500 block of Villa Drive South in Fargo, said police Lt. Joel Vettel.
A police squad car pulled behind an SUV parked in a parking lot in that area and officers approached a man sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle and began talking to him.
At some point in the conversation, the man suddenly locked the vehicle doors and slid to the driver’s seat.
He then put the SUV into reverse and backed up rapidly, smashing into the unoccupied squad car and spinning it 90 degrees.
The SUV then sped off.
It was located a short while later, and the driver was arrested.
Vettel identified the suspect as Michael R. Foley, 20, of Fargo.
Vettel said Foley had three outstanding warrants, including two in Cass County.
He said Foley faces a number of charges stemming from the Thursday morning incident, including fleeing, leaving the scene of an accident, DUI, DUI refusal, reckless driving, no insurance, minor in possession, driving under suspension and open container.
