Alleged drunk driver hits semi head-on
WILLISTON — A 22-year-old Billings, Mont., man was injured Tuesday morning when his Ford pickup hit a semi head-on as the man was trying to pass other cars on U.S. Highway 85. The man faces charges of drunken driving.
Collin Sprague was traveling north on Highway 85 about 20 miles north of Williston and passing a string of cars when it approached a semi. The semi driver, Kolton Messerly, also of Billings, swerved onto the right shoulder to avoid hitting Sprague but was unable to. Both vehicles entered the west ditch, where Sprague’s vehicle came to a rest. Messerly’s semi came to rest in a field.
Sprague was taken to Mercy Hospital by ambulance.
