Man pleads guilty in double murder
FARGO — A Fargo man has pleaded guilty to stabbing to death his ex-girlfriend and another man at her apartment here last November.
Stevens had tried to enter a guilty plea at a previous hearing in which he went into elaborate detail about how his wife April had driven them from South Dakota late in the evening of Nov. 22 to Samantha Wickenheiser’s apartment, where he stabbed to death both Wickenheiser and the man she was with, Ward Allen Berg. At that hearing, Stevens told the court he had suffered from mental health problems and had lost his health coverage.
At the time, Judge Steven Marquart wouldn’t allow Stevens to plead guilty, saying he needed to have a psychological evaluation first.
A state psychologist found Stevens fit to proceed in court.
