Belfield man rolls vehicle, charged with driving under influence
A Belfield man injured in a car accident Friday has been charged with driving under the influence, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Thomas Schaff, 44, was driving northbound on a gravel road approximately one mile south of Belfield at approximately 7 p.m. when he lost control of his Chevrolet Blazer, according to the release. Schaff entered the ditch and was ejected from the vehicle as it overturned. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
The Belfield Ambulance transferred Schaff to Spirit Life Flight in Dickinson where he was airlifted to Bismarck and treated for his injuries.
His vehicle was totaled in the accident.
The Belfield Police Department, Stark County Sheriff’s Office and Billings County Sheriff’s Office also responded. The crash is under investigation.
