New Salem man ejected from vehicle
BISMARCK — A New Salem man was ejected from his vehicle after it struck a guardrail Thursday morning in Bismarck, according to North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Vernon Jacobson, 68, was driving a 1999 Ford Contour east on Interstate 94, near mile marker 158, when his vehicle drifted into a median at approximately 8:15 a.m.
Jacobson was ejected into the right lane of I-94 near the Washington Street underpass. The car continued driverless east for a short distance, traveling off the roadway into a south ditch, according to Highway Patrol.
Metro Area Ambulance responders transported Jacobson to Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck. His injuries were unknown.
The vehicle was totaled. Highway patrol officers are investigating the accident.
