Woman in critical condition after Minot shooting

MINOT – Minot police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a shooting Saturday that left a 44-year-old woman in critical condition.

Officers came upon the victim early Saturday after stopping a vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed as it arrived at Trinity Hospital, according to a news release.

The driver of the vehicle, 31-year-old Robert A. Putney Jr., was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and simple assault, both Class B misdemeanors.

Putney pleaded guilty to both charges Monday in Minot Municipal Court and was sentenced to 30 days in the Ward County Jail, according to police.

The shooting victim, whose name was not released, was listed in critical condition Tuesday morning at the hospital.
