BISMARCK — A 20-year-old Bismarck native was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for coercion and enticement of a minor.

Daniel Ray is the latest conviction and sentencing in the arrests made from Operation Vigilant Guardian, in which 14 men were arrested in a “To Catch a Predator”-style sting with Internet posts for commercial sex with underage girls in Dickinson and Williston.

The undercover officer in this case said the 14-year-old girl was his foster daughter, and that he was selling her virginity. In emails and text messages, Ray negotiated to trade $50 and several PlayStation 3 games for oral sex from the girl.

Ray was arrested after going to an agreed-upon meeting location in Bismarck.

Ray will be on supervised probation for five years after he’s released from prison.
