DPD asks for assistance to locate teenager

Matthew D. Welty

The Dickinson Police Department is asking the general public for assistance in locating a missing/runaway juvenile.

Police are attempting to locate Matthew D. Welty, 16, of Williston.

Welty was last seen in Dickinson on Feb. 16 when he absconded during an organized field trip.

"Welty may be in the Dickinson or Williston areas and is believed to be purposely avoiding location," police said in a press release.

If anyone has any information related to Welty's whereabouts they are asked to please contact the Dickinson Police Department at 701-456-7759 Ext. 1.

Sydney Mook

Sydney Mook has been covering higher education at the Grand Forks Herald since May 2018. She previously served as the multimedia editor and cops, courts and health reporter at the Dickinson Press from January 2016 to May 2018.  She graduated from the University of South Dakota with a bachelor's degree in journalism and political science in three and half years in December 2015.
