Sheriff: Triangle may have led to Wis. shootings

BOYD, Wis. (AP) -- The Chippewa County sheriff says a love triangle may have led to the shooting death of a man and the wounding of a woman in the western Wisconsin village of Boyd.

Twenty-four-year-old Kyle B. Ryba was shot to death early Saturday, and his 18-year-old girlfriend, Stephanie N. Ball, was wounded in the right leg.

Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk says the suspect is the woman's husband, a 21-year-old Minot, man.

Kowalczyk says the woman and suspect had been separated for at least two weeks, and she was staying at her father's home, where the shootings happened. The sheriff would not detail events leading up to the shooting.

The suspect apparently was on his way back to North Dakota when he surrendered about three hours later in Cottage Grove, Minn.. He was taken to the Washington County, Minn., jail pending extradition.
