Students, staff and faculty at the school were notified of the lockdown shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday.

Police were looking for a male student who reportedly made threats against other specific students on the campus, said Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger.

University officials warned students and faculty to stay in a secure location on the campus, according Polly Peterson, vice president for advancement and business affairs.

Peterson said an incident had occurred but would not furnish details until the investigation is over.

The school, formerly Jamestown College, is a private liberal arts university with an enrollment of about 1,000 students.
