GRAND FORKS — Tom Erickson has been named interim director at the University of North Dakota’s Energy and Environmental Research Center.

Erickson has been acting director since former director Gerald Groenewold was put on leave May 5 and subsequently fired.

Erickson has worked at the EERC since 1988 and has held many positions over the years. Most recently, he served as associate director for business, operations and intellectual property.

Erickson will answer directly to Provost Tom DiLorenzo. The two will work with legislators, staff members and citizens to evaluate and find out ways the EERC can better serve the area.
