Black Friday shoppers in Dakotas see nice weather

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Shoppers in the Dakotas are enjoying balmy weather as they flock to stores for the traditional kickoff of the holiday shopping season.

Early morning temperatures Friday ranged from the upper 20s to the low 40s in the two states where Black Friday often is accompanied by bone-chilling cold.

In North Dakota, the weather has Grand Forks Best Buy manager Celeste Breffle optimistic. She believes the store will have a record-breaking season in sales. Her store opened at midnight Thursday, and KVLY-TV reports lines began forming Thanksgiving morning.

Long lines also formed at stores across South Dakota. The Empire Mall in Sioux Falls opened at midnight Thursday, and traffic was heavy -- both foot and motorized.
