Update2: Man being treated for burns suffered in blaze that continues from Highway 22 south of Dickinson toward Enchanted Highway

Press Photo by Dain Sullivan Firefighters check out the scene Monday afternoon for a grass/field fire about 15 miles south of Dickinson.

A man is being treated at St. Joseph's Hospital for injuries sustained in a fire this afternoon, hospital staff confirmed this evening.

The injury comes as firefighters are working to extinguish a grass and field fire about 15 miles south of Dickinson near the Hettinger and Stark County line. The fire reached five miles from the west side of Highway 22 east to the Enchanted Highway.

Smoke is billowing from the area and the blaze can be seen from about 15 miles away. Law enforcement and firefighters from at least four communities are on hand.

Visibility along Highway 22 in the area was at about zero.

Farmhand Dan Binstock was helping firefighters on-scene. Two weeks ago trees were burned on the farm and they believe the conditions led to the reigniting of a fire, he said.

Most of southwest North Dakota is under a red flag warning due to windy and dry conditions today.
