Update: Minnesota man injured in I-94 semi crash

A Minnesota man suffered injuries after losing control of the 1995 Peterbilt semi truck he was driving along Interstate 94 just west of South Heart on Thursday afternoon.

Mark Petermeier, 57, of Melrose, Minn., was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson after his semi, which was traveling westbound on the interstate and carrying frozen poultry products, crossed over the median and continued into eastbound lanes of traffic before eventually overturning in a ditch, according to a North Dakota Highway Patrol release.

The one-vehicle accident occurred at 4:23 p.m. and resulted in eastbound interstate traffic being rerouted for several hours to a temporary detour on Highway 10 between Belfield to South Heart, according to Trooper Troy Roth.

The truck Petermeier was operating was totaled and Petermeier was issued a citation for care required, according to the release.
