South Heart quiet zone in place

South Heart residents will get a little peace and quiet beginning today.

The city implemented its quiet zone for its lone railroad crossing at Fourth Street Northwest at midnight, according to a press release. An ordinance passed by the South Heart City Council on March 1, 2010, restricts noise made in town between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Train whistles will only be used at the discretion of the train engineer, according to the release. Those crossing the railroad crossing should take care to look for trains by looking both ways.
